This month the highlight of work on the Gulf Coast State College Advanced Technology Center actually occurred off-site. GAC/H. J. High appeared before GCSC’s Board of Trustees to report a savings on the project of more than $600K. This savings is attributed to the solid working relationship among the college, Florida Architects, and GAC/H. J. High team members and their methodology in administering the project. The college was thrilled to be able to invest this savings into additional equipment purchases for the facility.

Work on the Gulf Coast State College Advanced Technology Center continues at a frenetic pace as the new year gets kicked off. Work on the interior finishes continues with interior painting of partitions, installation of ceramic tile in the restrooms, and the remaining drywall being hung and finished. By month’s end, the stairwells and some smaller areas of detailed work will be the only drywall work remaining. Light fixtures and HVAC ceiling diffusers are being installed where ceiling grid has been installed, and ceiling grid work continues to follow areas where walls have been painted. The raised access floor installation started late in the month and will be completed early next month.

As the year winds down, interior construction on the Gulf Coast State College Advanced Technology Center is ramping up. The interior finishes stage of construction is now fully underway, as interior painting of partitions and exposed steel has commenced. Drywall continues to be hung and finished ahead of the paint, and it is expected all drywall will be complete by the end of next month. Several areas of walls will receive a level five finish once the first coat of paint has been applied. Ceramic tile work has started in the restrooms, and ceiling grid has begun as well.
