Over the past month the H. J. High team has worked closely with the Volusia County School District in preparation for relocating the remaining school staff into their new buildings. Our team met with school and district employees to ensure all of the warehousing, furnishings, IT, internet and phones are ready to be moved. Packing materials are being distributed to the teachers for the classroom belongings and as soon as the school year ends, H. J. High will assist in relocating the classroom furnishings to the new buildings.

Over the past month H. J. High has worked closely with the Volusia County School District through several matters involving the specific requirements for lightning protection of the campus. Our team worked with the Architect and Electrical Engineer of Record to fully define the extent of lightning protection particularly for the peripheral structures (i.e. walkway covers and field storage buildings). Drawing from the experience of the trade experts and test authorities, the H. J. High team assisted the Owner in full understanding of the lightning protection system and its benefits.

Over the past month the H. J. High team has worked closely with the Volusia County School District through several matters involving interpretations of the Florida Building Code. Most notably, when the building inspectors raised concern with the required support of the brick masonry, the H. J. High team worked diligently with the Structural Engineer of Record and the Building Official to meet all of the requirements of the building code. And when the resolution required materials that appeared to be unavailable to the subcontractor, the H. J. High team pooled its resources and procured the new items without delay to the schedule.
